| Call For Papers |
| ! Paper/tutorial submissions extended to 18th September 2005 ! |
A number of exciting activities will be held at AUSCC05, including:
|
| |
- Prominent keynote speakers invited from industry, academia and
government.
- Student paper, poster and tutorial presentations (with refereed paper, poster and tutoria!
l abstracts included in the published conference proceedings).
- Industry exhibition (with ICT industry representatives eager to discuss their services and potential career opportunities).
- Social events that will offer a great chance to meet like-minded attendees and build that all-important professional network for the future.
|
If you are interested in learning what students from around Australia are doing in ICT research and in networking with these students, academics and industry representatives, then you should strongly consider attending AUSCC05! By presenting your work at AUSCC05 you will be showcasing your problem solving, research and communication skills to other highly motivated attendees. Imagine how good such an experience would look on your CV when applying for a graduate job, honours or postgraduate scholarship!! Regular papers will undergo a friendly, constructive refereeing process with accepted papers being included in the co!
nference proceedings. The proceedings will be published with an ISBN s
o that these papers can be cited by others and home departments can get research funding for these papers -- a common condition for departmental student travel support!
AUSCC05 will be hosted by the ANU Institute of Engineering and Information Science. The University's campus is conveniently located in Canberra's CBD close to accommodation and public transport.
Note that postgraduate students are also encouraged to apply to present tutorials and posters, and that there are opportunities for both students and academics to help future AUSCC conferences. |
| ABSTRACT/PAPER SUBMISSIONS!
|
| Paper submissions are sought from undergraduate and honours students currently studying at an Australian University or Institute of TAFE. Suitable submissions could result from semester-long, summer or honours research projects in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or any IT related field. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
|
| |
- Applications of Computer Science/Information Technology.
- AI, Machine Learning, Autonomous Agents, Data Mining.
- Computer Graphics, Multimedia, Gaming.
- Computing Paradigms, Quantum Computing, Parallel Computing.
- Computational Science, Bioinformatics
- Computers & Society, IT Education, Human Computer Interaction
- Databases, Information Retrieval.
- E-Commerce!
, E-Business, Information Management.
- IT-industry issues for young IT professionals.
- Networking, Communications.
- Programming Languages, Operating Systems, Computer Security.
- Software Engineering, IT Quality
- Women in ICT.
|
| The submission process begins with abstract submission. Authors of accepted abstracts will then be asked to submit full papers, which must adhere to the style guidelines published on the conference website. Submitted papers then undergo full review by national and international academics in related areas. Also, by submitting a paper you are obliged to peer-review one or two papers. Successful authors will make a 20-minute presentation of their work during the conference followed by a 5-minute question time. These papers will be included in the published conference proceedings. In addition to a presentation a poster on the same topic may also be submitted. |
| POSTERS |
|
Poster submissions are sought from undergraduate and postgraduate students. Posters are a regular feature in most academic conferences and provide a means for the efficient presentation of late-breaking research or papers that did not make it to publication.' |
| TUTORIAL PROPOSALS |
|
Undergraduate and postgraduate students are invited to submit proposals for tutorials to be run during the conference, although preference will be given to undergraduate submissions. Tutorial summaries and transcripts are due at the same time as regular papers. Accepted tutorials will consist of one or two 50-minute sessions followed by 10-minute question/intermission times, and will ideally survey or review a field/methodology/tool not normally covered by core undergraduate courses, at a difficulty and interest level appropriate for 2nd/3rd year undergraduate students. |
| REGISTRATION |
Registration for speakers and other delegates will be sought closer to the time of the conference. The registration fee will be approximately $25 for the 3 days. The registration costs have been kept low to encourage participation by the target audience. This includes participation in the conference social programme. |
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION |
Detailed information on getting to ANU will be provided on the conference website. Inter-state and regional visitors should check the conference website for advice on accommodation options. Partial travel support maybe provided on a merit basis by AUSCC for students outside the Sydney/Canberra region. However, it is expected that home departments may provide partial support for travel and accommodation for full papers as these provide several hundred dollars worth of funding for a department through the DEST funding formula. |
