R2: the user interface of the game should show a layout of the game boundary and game locations. R3: location is defined by four points forming a rectangle, and is outdoors. R4: the game boundaries are defined by four points. R5: not all points within the game boundaries are inside game locations. R6: there are three basic player types: wizard, warrior and sage. R7: each player type has its own user interface and user options. R8: every non-player character in the game is also one of these three types. R9: players can either initiate a new game or join an existing game. R10: players select a game by name to join game group. R11: one player is chosen to create a new game. R12: to create a new game, a player chooses begin new from the options menu. R13: the player will then be prompted to enter a port number for the game. R14: the range of port numbers that are permitted is 3000-5000. R15: multiple games may be created in the same location at the same time and not interfere with one another. R19: when the game environment is initially populated with crystals, a random number of random locations are populated with a random number of crystals up to 10. R20: each other player is sent to a randomly chosen location. R21: each player has a set amount of time to reach the location to which they were sent. R22: if players do not reach their initial location within the specified time, they lose 1 energy point. R23: magical items are cloaks, swords, keys and rings and are randomly distributed around the location. R24: there will be at most one npc sent to any one location. R25: npc's are randomly sent to locations. R26: to join a game, a player must be in contact with a player that is already a member of the game. R27: the new player should choose join existing from the options menu. R28: they will then be prompted to enter the machine name or ip address of the other player's device. R29: the other player's device will then send the game state to the new player, allowing them to join. R30: when the player joins the game they will then be asked to choose a player type. R31: the object of the game is to collect as many of the crystals as possible and return them to the throne room before the time limit expires and the game ends. R32: crystals can be collected by discovering them in a location in the world, interacting with characters, or duelling other players for them. R33: players explore the world by walking around the game-play area. R34: they are un-constrained in their motion, with the exception that they cannot leave the game-play area. R35: if a player leaves the game-play area, or selects leave-game from the options menu, they will automatically lose the game, and drop all the crystals they carry. R36: dropped crystals will be re-scattered throughout the game area. R37: if a players game device fails as may happen in a power failure, they re join the game, and keep their crystals and game state as long as they re-start before the end of the game. R38: players lose energy faster while in a location: they lose two units per five- minute period. R39: if a player enters a location that has no players or characters in it, they may pick up any crystals or magical items they see. R40: otherwise, crystals can be obtained from characters or players according to the rules below. R41: players gain 10 units of energy when the game begins. R42: as they proceed throughout the game, their energy dissipates by one unit for each five-minute period. R43: energy is gained by two units when they find a crystal upon entering a location. R44: the display on the device is split into three areas: information, world-map, and local- map. R45: all game information will be shown to the player via their hand-held device in the information area. R46: the amount of time remaining will be shown in the information area of the device. R47: the player's energy level will be shown in the information of the device. R48: game elements (crystals, npc's, magical items, player representations) are all shown on the hand-held device as coloured dots with labels. R49: a count of crystals collected is shown in the information area. R50: any magical items in possession are shown by coloured dots in the information area. R51: the player can tap on the dots to see the options available. R52: the world-map is shown at all times. R53: the world-map shows a green dot at the player's own location on the map and a yellow dot at the location of crystals in the game. R54: depending on the player's type, they will be shown different kinds of information on their world-map. R55: sages will be shown the locations of magical items as blue dots. R56: wizards will be shown locations of non- player characters as purple dots. R57: warriors will be shown locations of players as red dots. R58: once a player enters a location, a local- map will be displayed on their hand-held device. R59: the local-map will show a detailed view of the crystals and other magical items in the location. R60: otherwise, the local map will be shown as blank. R61: the local-map will also show more detail about players and npcs in the location. R62: when two players meet upon entering a location, they perform a duel of rock paper scissors. R63: each player wagers a crystal on the outcome of the duel. R64: if one player has no crystals they will wager the promise of the first crystal they find on the duel outcome, or they may wager two magical items in their possession. R65: a player may wager two crystals to force another player to wager a particular magical item in their possession. R66: if a player wagers two crystals for a magic item, then the other player is entitled to ask for a magic item instead. R67: each player will see the other player's information in their own device's information area. R68: when a player encounters a character, it will pose a challenge to that player. R69: the type of challenge depends on the character's type. R70: however, if a player meets a character of their same type, the character will grant the player any crystals that they carry. R71: players may be involved in only one duel at a time. R72: if there are both another player and a npc in a location when a player arrives, the other player takes precedence over the npc, and a duel occurs, followed by the challenge from the npc. R73: duel losers pay their debts immediately, or, if they cannot, their debts will be automatically repaid when they become able. R74: wizards are magical beings. R75: when a player meets a wizard, they will send the player to look for magical items hidden around the location. R76: magical items may have already been picked up by a player; if so, that player must be located and challenged. R77: players in possession of a target magical- item will be identified on the world-map. R78: completing an errand successfully provides four units of energy to the player. R79: warriors respect physical prowess. R80: to win their crystal, they will ask the player to run to a particular location, and return within a certain time period. R81: when a player completes a physical test challenge successfully they gain three units of energy and win a crystal. R82: sages honour knowledge. R83: the sage will ask a player a riddle, which, if answered correctly, will be rewarded with a crystal. R84: players must return to the throne room before the time limit expires and the game ends. R85: failure to do so means that the player loses the game. R86: of the players that do return in time, the one with the most crystals wins the game. R87: if more than one player has the same number of crystals, the one with more energy wins the game. R88: if more than one player has the same number of crystals and energy then they must duel to decide which wins the game. R89: players that are wizards should have magical icons and terms displayed in their user interface. R90: when wizard characters meet players, they should speak to them using magical language. R91: if a wizard type player meets a wizard character, the wizard gives them any crystals they carry. R92: if a sage type player meets a sage character, the sage gives them any crystals they carry. R93: if a warrior type player meets a warrior character, the warrior gives them any crystals they carry. R94: players can join an existing game. R95: players can start a new game.
