Indicative assessment

More information may be available for enrolled students on the course website on Wattle

The assessment during the semester contains a mixture of individual and group assignments relating to the same central theme, totaling 40%, with the final exam 60%. The assignments will let the students practise some of the concepts and techniques that are introduced in the lectures. Details will be given on the Wattle course web pages at the start of the semester.

1

Assignment 1 - Individual assignment

Percentage: 15%

Details: This assignment is done individually. It deals with early identification of user requirements and includes observations, interviews, scenarios and personas. This assignment asks the students to link these techniques with the design principles that will be presented in the first few weeks of lectures. This is an important assignment because it is the main opportunity for you to present an individual piece of work and to get feedback on your work.

Due date: Indicatively, the end of week 4

2

Assignment 2 - Group assignment

Percentage: 15%

Details: This is a group assignment. The group will design a collaborative interaction between 2 users and a set of objects in a cultural collection. The design will typically be presented as a paper-based prototype.

Due date: Indicatively, the end of week 7

3

Assignment 3 - Individual assignment

Percentage: 5%

Details: Each group will be given a copy of the Assignment 2 submission from another group. The individuals in that group will separately conduct a heuristic evaluation of that submission.

Due date: Indicatively, the end of week 9

4

Assignment 4 - Group assignment

Percentage: 5%

Details: The group will pool their individual heuristic evaluations and will write a short (1-page) summary of the evaluation points that they consider the most important.

Due date: Indicatively, the end of week 11
