Final Project Mark
The final project mark is a group mark and is worth 30% of your of your overall final mark. The aim of this final mark is to evaluate your project in its entirety. This brings together the extent and quality of your project. This is determined using: the content within redmine and svn, the collection of portfolio and management artefact submissions, client feedback and evaluation, content presented in the presentations, mentor evaluation, and the final project report. So although final project report is only a part of this evaluation, it is important as it directs the examiner to see the value of your project. Hence it is important to make the most of the final project report to show the extent, quality, value to the client your project has achieved. This is best done via a well planned, clearly written, and nicely formatted report. The final project will be marked out of 100. And is worth 30% of the final mark. A late penalty of 10% per day applies (these are working days). Also note this penalty is caped so it does not take your mark for this report below 40 out of 100. This report will not be accepted after the last day of semester 2. Extensions are possible in documented exceptional cases (e.g. medical certificate).
The report must be at most 5 pages and contain the following:
- A title.
- Your names and student id's of the team.
- Abstract - Overview of your project.
- Context
- Requirements
- Outcomes
- Evaluation
- Summary of Resources used (time different aspects took)
- Value provided to client
- Future of project (optional)
- Discussion
In-addition to the main 5 page report you may attach appendices.
Use a 1-column report format with a 10 point Times-Roman font. The report must be in pdf format that is viewable on the lab machines.
To give you an indication of marks I would expect:
- the team has produce has an artefact to show for their efforts, the team demonstrates some knowledge in the area of the project (although with serious gaps and limitations in this knowledge), there is some evidence of used of the svn/redmine software engineering tools, the final report states what is done (albeit in a somewhat muddled way) : 50-59
- the team has produce an okay artefact, the team demonstrates knowledge in the area, they have made appropriate use of the svn/redmine software engineering tools, the final report appropriately brings together what was achieved : 60-69
- the team has produce a good artefact that has provided some value to the client, the team shows good knowledge of the project area, svn/redmine have been effectively used, the final report is well written, appropriate software engineering processes have been followed (this includes documentation on the teams redmine wiki) : 70-79
- the team has produce an artefact that provides good value to the client, the team shows expert knowledge in the project area, svn/redmine have been effectively used, the final report is very well written, the project's software development processes are of every high quality (particularly relating to testing, verification, and validation), the documentation on the teams redmine wiki is appropriate for the project and of very high quality, individual parts that make up the project's artefact are of very high quality : 80-89
- all the requirement of the 80-89 rang plus the group must show an impressive technical mastery of software engineering, the team shows some analysis of the approach taken and how it contrasts to alternative approaches, also for a mark in this range it would normally be expected that the client is very very positive about the value the project provided to them : 90-100
Assignment Submission
The assignment must be submitted via a computer in the CSIT labs or remotely via ssh to partch or one of our servers. The group leader should submit this assignment. Submit the assignment using the following command (replace wXXgXX with your group id):submit comp4500 finalreport finalreportwXXgXX.pdf
A few hits for submission:
- Don't have spaces in your file names (the submit program does not like them!).
- Copy the files to your home directory, rather, than having them mounted on a USB drive.
- You may submit as many times as you like, I will mark the most recent one that is not late.
