Semester 2 - Group Presentations
The aim of this presentation is to provide: the project clients, your colleagues, mentors, and the course coordinator an summary of your project. This will normally include some context for the project (what project is it, what are your groups particular goals), a summary of what you have achieved, and some reflection .This is a group presentation, so it is expected that all members of the group contribute to the presentation in some way including: planning, generation of slides, feedback during practice sessions, or the actual delivery. So not everyone needs to have a speaking part in the delivery of the presentation, however, everyone needs to be part of it in some way. The entire group must "own" this presentation.
These group marks will by default be split equally among the group members. However, if group members believe that this is not equitable then the group's marks will be split based on contribution to the project. This will be done over all the group marks and the entire contribution to the project will be considered. The contribution will be determined by the mentor in consultation with the course coordinator.
The presentation will be marked out of 40. And is worth 5% of the final mark. A late penalty of 10% per day applies (these are working days). Also note this penalty is caped so it does not take your mark for this presentation below 40 out of 100. The presentation will not be accepted after the last day of semester 1. Extensions are possible in documented exceptional cases (e.g. medical certificate).
These presentations will be scheduled some time in week 13. Each group has 13 minutes in total, this includes time for questions. Groups are free to structure this time however they please (typically you would aim for 10 mins of presentation and 3 mins for questions). Groups may make use of the data projector or white board.
A mark out of 40 will be given for each presentation. Marks will be given based on the following aspects:
- 10 - delivery - Was your presentation clear? Did you engage other students? Did you make good use of slides? Was your talk well structured? Did the presentation run to time?
- 10 - slides (or prepared presentation content) - Were they clear/accurate? Were they interesting? Did they add or detract from the overall presentation? Did you make good use of them in the presentation?
- 10 - content - Did your presentation provide an overview of the groups project? Was your presentation accurate in terms of your groups project? Did you address core issues or critical aspects in your presentation?
- 10 - awesomeness - Was your presentation outstanding in some or a number of aspects? Did you show great understanding of the topic? Did people want to hear more?
