---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CSIT RTW Bulletin #2: Mon Mar 8 1999 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Everyone! Sorry have been a bit late with this, but have had a few things to set up, and have been busy with a few urgent tasks over the last fortnight. COMMUNICATION: 1. electronic. We now have a web page! (thanks Martin for setting up the directory). http://cs.anu.edu.au/csitRTW. This will also have back issues of these Bulletins. 2. notice boards. Inside the CSIT Bikeshed, I've put au small noticeboard, which will display contact info, Pedal Power calendars etc. Any suggestions / requests to put up other info welcome. These notices I will also put up in the CSIT Tea Room (south corner). BIKESHED NEWS: Done Bone and a few others have expressed concern that the construction of the Engineering-IT Link Building (to commence at earliest later this year) will cause the removal of the Bikeshed. While the earlier footprints implied this, the latest design (in the Seminar Room, Engineering Building) indicate that the Bikeshed is safely clear of the construction / landscaping area for the Link. So thats a relief - but lets keep still an eye on it; these things can change without much notice! USEFUL SERVICES OF PEDALPOWER (http://boomer.anu.edu.au/community/pedalpower/): * 3rd-party insurance for cyclists (hmm, I need to think about that one) * workshops on bicycle maintenance (free for PP members) * has a Liason Committee for reporting/lobbying for improvements for bike paths, cycle hazards kerb ramps etc - they have a Cycling Hazard Report Card; I will put up a copy one the Noticeboard, or you can get one from me - also a Hotline 6207 6677 THE CANBERRA BICYCLE 2000 BIKE PLAN I hadnt heard of this before - came across this by accident when doing some conveyancing recently. See http://www.palm.act.gov.au/devplan/bikebits/fore.htm for what our Government has in mind for the next few years - quite interersting. UPCOMING PEDAL POWER EVENTS: The Big Canberra Bike Ride Starts 8am Mon March 15, near the High Court. A relaxed ride of 25 km though Canberra streets. Seem me for entry forms ($5 entry - mostly goes to the National Heart Foundation). Well thats it for the time being. Happy cycling! -Peter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- RTW: sponsored by Pedal Power, HealthPact & (ACT) Heart Foundation oooooooo Be Active for Life ! oooooooo ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
