Well these days, the challenge of riding goes into enduring the elements...

Index of RTW Information

As not a lot is happening on the cycling front these days, I finally got around to indexing the CSIT RTW information, including over 3 years worth of Bulletins!

Quite a lot of info has accumulated there, some dated but most not. Particularly the more recent members of CSIT RTW may find something of interest there, and even some of the old hands may find it handy...

CSIT RTW web pages: anti-spam measures

In June, for the 1st time, we got some spam on the CSIT RTW mail list. Probably this occurred due to the recently made back-link from the PP RTW links page (fame has its drawbacks - on the other hand, type `Skate to Work' in google and see what comes up first :).

The spam almost certainly arose from web robots searching for email addresses (`spam-bots'), whose activities seem to have proliferated this year (note that the CSIT RTW web pages were almost isolated before then). Incidentally, I noticed that this particular spam had the our email address weakly encoded in an id field of their url, so they could track any accesses to their site...

To prevent spam-bots in the future finding our mail list address, I have removed the .anu.edu.au from csitRTW@cs, in both the text and hrefs. So if you are emailing from outside ANU, you will have to add this qualifier manually. I have also done this to (or removed altogether) any personal email addresses in the pages (including the Bulletins).

Recent Events: CSIT Ride 9am Sat May 11

Five riders set out on a sunny but brisk autumn's morning for Red Hill. As there was a minor collision between 2 riders along the lakeside, we had to make a short stop at Deakin shops for human repairs (I now have added some handyplast and a Swiss Army knife to the repair kit - after all, what is more important? :).

After the moderate climb to Red Hill, we enjoyed some beautiful views of South Canberra in full autumn colors with coffee and cakes. Then a fast downhill almost all the way to Parliament House, and back to CSIT by 10:45.

Well thats it for these 2 months. Happy cycling! -Peter.
