                        Abstract

Systems using one-to-many or many-to-many network communication
do not scale well (or at all) without the use of IP multicasting
in place of point to point TCP. Unreliable multicast has been
in use on the Internet to transmit streaming media for several
years, but reliable multicast communication is still in the
research and development stage. This talk will give an overview
of the design, implementation, and early use of LRMP, the
proposed Internet standard Lightweight Reliable Multicast
Protocol from INRIA in France.

Biography: 
Hugh Fisher is currently working in the ACSYS Virtual
Environments Lab, with a particular interest in building
collaborative systems.
