Title: Department of Computer Science Seminar Date: Wednesday, 9 July 2003 Time: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Venue: Room N101, CSIT Building [108] Title: Orientation microtracker at the CEA Speaker: Dr Yanis Caritu Abstract: This talk will first give a quick introduction to the CEA-Léti followed by a presentation of technologies developed in the Lab (and especially orientation trackers). A demonstration will be given, after which there will be a discussion. Biography: Dr. Yanis Caritu is an Engineer of ? Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Physique de Marseille, France. His PhD thesis was done at CEA-Léti in Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble; its field of research was magnetic localization of ferromagnetic mobile with high sensitive NMR sensors. His work experience includes: - 1 year work with the Army Health Center in Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging - Application engineer & developer at Animation Science - Monte-Carlo methods and particle systems software. (engine of Particle system in Softimage). - Manager of the Virtual Reality Department at Medialab/Canal+ in Paris - Virtual reality software CLOVIS on SGI. Performance Animation. - CTO at SIRIA Technologies - 3D Visualization and modelization of environmental phenomenon. Today, he is a research engineer at CEA-Léti since 2000.He has had active participation in creating a start-up based on CEA-Léti Technologies. The CEA-Léti is one of the most important national research institutes in France. The team works in a project named "Microsystems for Motion Capture". It is based in Grenoble which is a well-known place for the microtechnology industry. The Léti is the most important research centre in micro and nano technologies in Europe. The team involved in the collaboration has a range of cross-disciplinary expertise (electronics, micro-packaging, information processing, systems,...).
