Title: Department of Computer Science Seminar Date: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 Time: 4:00 pm to 5:00pm Venue: Room N101, CSIT Building [108] Speaker: Glenn Fiedler Title: Terrain Occlusion Culling with Horizons Abstract: This talk describes an occlusion culling technique for outdoor scenes based on heightfield terrain geometry. Unlike other terrain occlusion culling techniques, it does not require expensive offline preprocessing, so it is able to adapt on the fly to dynamically changing terrain. Best of all, it is conceptually simple and easy to implement. Biography: Glenn a is senior programmer at Irrational Games. He is currently developing the character movement physics simulation for "Tribes: Vengeance" for Sierra, and previously developed the sound, movement, pathfinder and physics systems for last years "Freedom Force" published by Electronic Arts.
