############################################################ Seminar Announcement Department of Computer Science, FEIT The Australian National University ############################################################ Date: Wednesday, 7 December 2005 Time: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Venue: Room N101, CSIT Building [108] Speaker: Dr. Henry Gardner Title: Human Computer Interaction Studies in the Wedge Theatre Abstract: In the context of Human Computer Interaction studies in virtual reality, this talk will describe a recent experiment concerning line drawing in three-dimensions. There is tantalising evidence that this experiment might have uncovered a fundamental principle of interaction design. Even if it hasn't, it has been a lot of fun trying as well as a great exercise in research-led education (and education-led research). Biography: Henry Gardner is a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and a Visiting Fellow in the Departments of Theoretical Physics and the Plasma Research Laboratory, RSPhysSE. He is co-inventor of the Wedge virtual reality theatre. He has directed the "Computational Science and Engineering Education" and the "eScience:Applications and Technology" projects in the Department of Computer Science. His published work in education and research has contributed to plasma physics, virtual reality, human computer interaction and computational science.
