Speaker: Dr. John Zeleznikow School of Computer Science and Computer Engineering La Trobe University, Bundoora, Victoria 2. Time: 4:00pm - 5:00 pm, 21th August 1996 (Wednesday) 3. Place: Room N101, in the Department of Computer Science Ground Floor, CSIT building, ANU 4. Title: Using cases to perform reasoning and negotiation in decision support systems 5. Target Audience: honours students and above 6. Abstract: There has been much recent research on how computer systems negotiate but very little on building computer tools for supporting human negotiation. In this project we investigate artificial intelligence techniques for supporting humans to both reason and negotiate through the use of cases. We believe intelligent decision support systems require hybrid reasoning. Artificial Intelligence paradigms we have used include a hybrid of rule based reasoning, case based reasoning and neural networks. We discuss six systems we have built that illustrate our use of hybrid paradigms. 7.
