Information and computing sciences amongst world's best

Recent results of the Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) have just been released by the Australian Research Council (ARC).

The ANU rated 5 in the areas of "Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing" and "Electrical Engineering" which are major research areas of the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science. And within the broader field of "Information and Computing Sciences" the ANU is the only university in Australia to receive an overall 5 rating.

The Unit of Evaluation profile is characterised by evidence of outstanding performance well above world standard presented by the suite of indicators used for evaluation.

"This is a wonderful reflection of all the hard work we have all put in over the years and everyone can be justifiably proud of our achievement. Special thanks go to Professor Alistair Rendell, Professor Matt James, Professor John Lloyd, Professor Rod Kennedy and Dr Parastoo Sadeghi as lead academics and panel chairs, and to Eva Lerable as lead administrator. We will be delving further into the submission and grading to draw out any lessons that can be used for subsequent rounds," said Professor Chris Baker, Dean of the College.
