NUIX wins the "Communication Technology" division of the 2012 Australian Export Awards
The 50th Australian Export Awards were presented at a gala event in the Great Hall at Parliament House, Canberra on Tuesday 27 November 2012.
Twelve companies were recognised for their exporting success in agribusiness, arts and entertainment, education and training, minerals and energy, services and manufacturing.
Nuix (NSW) - Winner, Information and Communication Technology Award
NUIX has some strong links with ANU. Their Chief Engineer is David Sitsky, one of our former students and 1993 University Medalist. David was subsequently a member of the ANU-Fujitsu CAP project. NUIX is a medium company but is well stocked with ANU graduates. David spoke to the COMP1110 students this semester.
Nuix information management software makes it easy to search and manage vast quantities of unstructured data. The company’s technology enables clients to take control of their unstructured information by normalizing data stores such as emails and other documents stores in archives to make them easily searchable and more manageable.
Nuix supplies its information management software such as eDiscovery and Investigation and Information Governance solutions, to some of the world’s leading advisory, regulatory, corporate, law enforcement and litigation support organisations.
Clients have included: the Australian Department of Defence, the Beijing Police Force, the Canadian Department of Defence, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the US Department of Justice, the US Department of Homeland Security, Ernst & Young (multiple countries), the Hong Kong Police, KPMG (multiple countries), the Reserve Bank of Australia, and the UK Serious Fraud Office.
Established in 2000, Nuix focused on research and development in Australia for the first six years. The company only began exporting in 2006. After such lengthy preparation, international success has come rapidly: export sales have increased by more than 140 per cent year-on-year for the past three years and exports now account for 89 per cent of revenue.
The Australian Export Award judges noted that there was an excellent field of applicants for this year’s Information and Communication Technology Award, which made the choice of winner a particular challenge.
The judges commended Nuix for its outstanding achievement in growing fivefold over a two year period, and for achieving strong profit margins while expanding its business presence, particularly in the UK and the US.
In his acceptance speech, Nuix CEO Eddie Sheehy specifically called out the quality of ANU CS graduates.
