Gungahlin Digital Hub and Enterprise Launch

The Government has launched the Gungahlin Digital Hub, marked with a ceremony at Gungahlin Library on Friday 1st February 2013 with a demonstration of how the NBN can enhance the way children learn.

The Digital Hubs Program is an Australian Government funded program that will help communities to gain the skills needed to maximise the benefits provided by the National Broadband Network (NBN).

A Digital Hub is a place you can visit free of charge that demonstrates the NBN, how to get connected, and what it can be used for in your home.

The hub will provide expert advice to individuals, small businesses and not-for-profit organisations about understanding the possibilities of the NBN, while helping businesses create the jobs of the future and compete nationally and globally.

The Research School of Computer Science contributed to the launch by installing an interactive display, showcasing the National Science Week Project, ‘Who Could You Be?’ showing the virtual character of Professor Tim Flannery. The software was created by Research School PhD candidates Torben Sko,, James Sheridan and Ben Swift.

The project forms part of a permanent IT display at the Research School of Computer Science at ANU
