Noting of Apologies and Minutes of previous meeting (http://cs.anu.edu.au/ohs/minutes/Dec04) Apologies noted. Minutes confirmed. Thanks was expressed to Vicki for being chair last semester. 2. Matters Arising: 2.1 Local Policy for Children Within the Workplace: Jan reported that on recent updates, a draft was being prepared but was not yet approved. Peter noted the web page is unchanged from 2002. Status of draft http://cs.anu.edu.au/ohs/ChildInWorkplace.html: Peter reported that he recently raised this for approval with the current HoD. A query was made on a minor aspect, so the approval is still pending. ACTION: Peter to pursue this. 2.2 Hazardous Chairs Bronwyn reported that Commercial Express looked at the swivel chairs, stating that the faulty chair had been damaged. All chairs had been looked at and repaired James felt that the chairs could still break in time. Bronwyn noted that staff had already been warned of the problem. ACTION: include inspection of the chairs in the annual Building Inspection. 2.3 Additional 'Don't Let Your Posture Cost You' posters for DCS Bronwyn reported that these had been delivered some months ago and had been installed across DCS, with some being given to CSIRO. 2.4 Status of Computer Science First Aid Kit Bronwyn reported that she found a old file mentioning that Parasol had maintain the kits. They have been requested to come, but have not appeared yet. Bronwyn mentioned that much of the kit should now be replaced. Jan added that chemical ice packs could now be added. Action: Bronwyn to continue pursuing Parasol. 3. New Hazard and Injury Reports Peter reported that an injury report of OOS of workstation-related of `tendosynitis' to the arm was filed recently. Speaking to the person affected, the condition now seems to be improved, but two relevant Factors were monitor height (a new monitor was installed over the last year) and increased workload due to a DCS policy of reducing the number of tutorials/laboratories in our courses. ACTION: ensure the yearly workstation checks do take place ACTION: Peter to raise this `side-effect' of workloads at the next DCS meeting 4. After Hours Air Conditioning Bronwyn reported that following the complaints of stale air, a technical came and fixed the faulty after-hours switch on level 2. After hours air quality appears to be satisfactory since. 5. Other Business. None was raised.
