Brian
Corrie is a research scientist with the Australian
National University's Department of
Computer Science. He is currently the leader of the ACSys
Collaborative
Virtual Environments (COVE) Project. Brian is a former meber of the
CAP
Research Project's premiere project (in my humble opinion), the ParVis
Visualization Project, and is still involved in various aspects of
the project. His primary research interests are in collaborative virtual
environments for scientific visualization, virtual environments in general,
computer graphics, high performance computing, high performance networking,
and software engineering. To earn a little extra cash on the side (and
to try and get some honors students fired up about Computer Graphics),
Brian is teaching a fourth year honors unit at ANU on Computer
Graphics.
The Australian National University is located in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory and is the national capital of Australia. Although Canberra is one of the few major Australian cities that does not lie on the coast, it is only an hours drive from the Eurobodalla Coast and the coastal city of Batemans Bay. Another hours drive south will bring you to the Sapphire Coast. And if that isn't enough, Canberra is only a few hours drive from the beautiful Snowy Mountains and their hiking and ski fields and is only 3.5 hours drive from Sydney and its gorgeous harbor. For more information about Australia, check out the Travel Australia on the Internet site or the Guide to Australia project from Charles Sturt University.
In a past life, Brian was a research associate on the Rigi Project in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria. The University of Victoria is located in the garden spot of Canada, Victoria, B.C., located on Southern Vancouver Island. For tourism information on the Victoria area, check out the BC Ministry of Small Business, Tourism, and Culture WWW page.
