Welcome
Hi, I am Tom Gedeon, Professor of Computer Science and Head of the Information and Human Centred Computing (iHcc) Research Group of the Research School of Computer Science in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at The Australian National University in Canberra.
about me
research
My research is focused on the development of automated systems for information extraction, from textual as well as eye gaze and physiological human data, and for the synthesis of the extracted information into humanly useful information resources, primarily using neural network and fuzzy logic methods. This is human centred computing.
teaching
I am teaching COMP1710 Web Development and Design, as well as COMP8420/COMP4660 Bio-inspired Computing: Applications and Interfaces, both in 1st semester 2012.
expertise
- Biologically inspired computing: includes neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary programming.
- Neural networks for feature selection, rule extraction, explanations, architecture related to tasks, cascade correlation
- Fuzzy logic: fuzzy interpolation, fuzzy signatures.
- Interactive evolutionary computation in New Media or games, generation of art.
- Eye gaze inference.
- Natural and Novel interfaces.
conference organisation
I ran the 17th International Conference on Neural Information Processing (ICONIP2010) in Sydney 22-25 Nov 2010.
