Research
Yoshihiro works on categorical dualities across mathematics, physics, and computer science. He also works on applications of category theory to artificial intelligence and machine learning and to quantum physics and quantum computing.
Biography
Yoshihiro is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing at the Australian National University. Prior to that, he held a Hakubi Assistant Professorship at Kyoto University (and Lectureship at the ANU before promoted to the current position). He earned both Bachelor and Master degrees from Kyoto University. He was awarded a PhD from the University of Oxford, having been a member of the Quantum Group of the Department of Computer Science at Oxford.
Activities & Awards
Yoshihiro has won competitive research paper awards at international conferences in computer science, including AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and IEEE WCCI (World Congress on Computational Intelligence). He is also a recipient of the Kyoto University President Award. He has obtained competitive grants, including JST PRESTO, JST FOREST, JST Moonshot Grant, and MEXT LEADER Grant. The total amount of the grants he was awarded so far is approx. $4M.
