Creating 2D images of surface and bulk recombianation with photoluminescence imaging

Project Code: CECS_736

This project is available at the following levels:
Summer Scholar
Please note that this project is only for undergraduate students.

Keywords:

characterisation, silicon, photovoltaics

Supervisors:

Dr Andy Thomson
Mr Teng Kho

Outline:

This work is the continuation of a 2010 hons student. You will be working with image processing software and our state-of-the-art PL system to image non-uniformly passivated silicon wafer and extract the recombination properties.

Goals of this project

1)Contribute to a publication regarding this work
2)Improve current image processing programs
3)Model to account for 2D effects
3)Characterise the "ringing defect"

Requirements/Prerequisites

Must be trained on the PL system and have a good understanding of QSSPC. A sound semiconductor physics background and programming experience with Octave would be useful.
