Machine Learning and Computer Vision Software Framework

Project Code: CECS_742

This project is available at the following levels:
CS single semester, Honours, Summer Scholar
Please note that this project is only for undergraduate students.

Keywords:

machine learning, software, Darwin

Supervisor:

Dr Stephen Gould

Outline:

This project involves contributing to a high-quality open-source machine learning software library, codenamed Darwin. The library includes a growing collection of standard machine learning and graphical models algorithms. The code is released under the BSD license.

Goals of this project

Develop (design, implement and test) one or more extensions to existing the Darwin library. Extensions include (1) writing new machine learning algorithms, (2) extending the probabilistic graphical models library, (3) implementing computer vision and scene understanding functions.

Requirements/Prerequisites

Very strong C++ programming skills under Linux, Windows or MaxOS is essential. Good understanding of algorithms.

Student Gain

1. Experience with large open-source software project.
2. Learn various machine learning algorithms.
3. Gain skills in C++ development including generic programming.
