Physical Layer Security in Wireless Communications

Project Code: CECS_976

This project is available at the following levels:
Engn4200, Engn R&D, Honours
Please note that this project is only for undergraduate students.

Keywords:

Wireless Communications, Physical layer security

Supervisors:

Dr Xiangyun (Sean) Zhou
Mr Biao He

Outline:

Security in wireless networks is a critical issue since malicious users can overhear the confidential message transmitted towards intended users. This project studies physical layer security, which is an emerging technique for improving wireless communication security. Different to traditional (cryptographic) technologies, Physical layer security does not rely on the encryption (secret key). This technique takes advantage of the physical-layer properties of wireless medium to secure the data transmission.

Requirements/Prerequisites

The candidate should have a basic knowledge on wireless communications. A mathematical background is helpful but not required.

Student Gain

Benefits of this project include obtaining a deep knowledge of physical layer security and wireless channel properties.
