Outline:
Information and communications technology plays an important role in the governance of many community organisations including Aboriginal Land Councils (ALCs). We have observed that standard desktop software often does not mirror the set of tasks and responsibilities of ALC members, which can lead to confusion and stress. In our studies, we learned that there is a desire among ALC members that software reflects individual views of business activities. Existing software is often considered as complex, and we had reports that the amount of available functions, options and data can lead to information overload and loss of context.
A possible solution to this problem is software with task-focused interfaces that only display functions and files related to the task the user is currently working on.
Goals of this project
The primary goal is to develop and test a task-focused software prototype specifically designed to meet the needs of aboriginal land councils.
