ABSTRACT:
A pie allocation to individuals is a well known problem. This paper deals with a special structured pie allocation problem. Instead of allocating the pie to individuals, we allocate the pie to groups, called sharing groups. The groups are not necessarily disjoint, so each individual can belong to one or more sharing groups. A slice given to a sharing group can be used by each member of the group as a public good, while across groups the pie is a private good. The presentation will explain the motivation for this problem, and deal with the question: Given the set of sharing groups, what would be a reasonable allocation of the pie to the groups.
