ABSTRACT:
Professor Geoff Dromey will be visiting the ICT Centre in Canberra to deliver a one day workshop on his research. Everyone is welcome to attend. For planning purposes, please email Vicki.O'Loughlin@csiro.au if you plan to attend the workshop.
Dr Alex Zelinsky recently met Prof Dromey and comments:
"Geoff believes that while developing complex systems, our ability to do so is limited by our short-term memory and that in order to better design systems, we need a representation and design method that acknowledges and accommodates the limitations of human short-term memory so that our capacity to deal with the detail that leads to complexity is increased. Geoff has proposed that "Behaviour Trees" (a graphic notation for representing a wide range of behaviour) and a genetic design method, through their response to the short-term memory problem, provide a simple and radical means for mastering and controlling the complexity found in numerous application domains."
