ABSTRACT:
Reputation based trust models have been proposed for the Service Web, where reputation of a service is defined as the collective perception of consumers that have interacted with the service in the past. Existing reputation based trust models capture consumers' perception of the service through feedback scores against a set of quality of service parameters. Though the feedback based models are proven to be good in electronic commerce, they have known drawbacks such as such as dishonest rating, retaliation, reciprocation and reputation milking. There are many solutions proposed towards addressing these shortcomings. One of the important aspects of the reputation is that "it takes years to build a reputation and minutes to ruin it". The feedback based mechanism is not good to capture this aspect of reputation. In order to address this problem in the Service Web, this talk presents a novel reputation based trust model based on the behaviour of interacting services. The proposed model is based on the BOLTZMANN- like behaviour model in a social field and considers behaviour of both consumers and providers. The underlying assumption is that the behaviour of services in the Service Web shows some analogies with the behaviour of individuals under the influence of social field, which in turn shows some analogies with the physical model for the behaviour of electrons in electronic field. The talk discusses the model and its pros and cons.
