ABSTRACT:
Recent technological advances enable the deployment of large-scale sensor networks for environmental monitoring and surveillance purposes. With the further development of wireless sensor networks, it is becoming urgent that they can support complicated queries for advanced applications. We here focus on evaluation optimization of two popular queries: skyline query and top-k query, in wireless sensor networks, for which, we devise energy-efficient algorithms for evaluation and maintenance of skyline and top-k queries. We also conduct extensive experiments by simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms significantly outperform existing algorithms in network lifetime prolongation.
