ABSTRACT:
This seminar presents research aimed at improving the quality of planning process of software development projects, in order to support decisions and increase project management success rate, which is low in most organisations. The contribution is twofold: Firstly, it contributes to the project management literature, by expanding the PMPQ model to evaluate the quality of the planning process of software development projects. Secondly, it benefits practitioners, by developing a software application a) allowing project managers improve their current planning; b) supporting steering committeeas decision, that is whether or not to move the project to the next phase, continue in the planning phase until better results are achieved, or even terminate the project before investing more resources; and c) improving the organisationas planning process for future projects.
