ABSTRACT:
Material discussed is not confidential, but involves strategies and future funding proposals.
10 years from now, Australia will have a broadband enabled health system. Part of this will involve the streaming, interpretting and visualisation of massive data sets, operating of massive geographic and demographic scale. At the same time, our neighbours in SE-Asia and groups across the EU and the US are addressing similar issues. Consider, every person generating 10-100Mb of data per second continuously for the rest of their lives. Some of it relates to health. Some of it might be helpful for clinicians. All of it needs sense made of it.... Where should the health-world look for a group that makes sense of data?
We outline some particular problems for health that NICTA has strengths in, and a vision of e-health at NICTA.
