ABSTRACT:
I will consider loss functions for multiclass prediction problems. More precisely I will present a subset of these functions : the ``proper composite losses'', which is the composition of a proper loss and a link function. Restricting to this class will be shown to be fruitful (a number of interesting results can be obtain by using the representation), and not very restrictive (a large class of losses has such a representation). During this talk, I will emphasize the differences and similarities of the binary and multiclass cases.
