ABSTRACT:
Diagnosis is the process of detecting faults by finding explanation for a sequence of observations. My research builds on the Discrete-Event System (DES) formalism to focus on the dynamic and discrete nature of states, events and transitions. The standard method of diagnosis is to derive belief states. However, a precise derivation can be very complex and is not always necessary.

This study explores the use of temporal windows to reduce the amount of observations and states. I also aim at building algorithms to be applied to intelligent alarm log handling for energy systems.
