Remember that the talk discussion groups are teaching and learning resources. They are not chat rooms.
Use your full real name when posting to teach.<course-code>.talk newsgroups and <course-code>.talk discussion boards. If the quality of your message is so low that you don't want anyone to know who posted it, don't post it.

Learn how to cancel messages as well as how to post messages. (Unless you are using the phorum Discussion Boards or WebCT which do not allow students to cancel messages.)
Remember that you are communicating with a great many people, most of whom you don't know, not just with your *friends*. Don't make postings which may be offensive to anyone in the ANU community. See ANU Inclusive Language Policy. Don't post messages which you wouldn't want your parents or significant others to read.
Remember that the Subject of a thread should reflect the content of the postings on the thread and be reasonably specific. Think how many posting are likely to fall under the Subject you have chosen.
Poor Subjects

Eiffel
Consider adding to the Subject to make the content of a thread clearer eg Re: Eiffel becomes Re: Eiffel -> Classes.
If the subject matter of your posting is not directly related to the subject matter of previous postings in a thread, start a new thread.
Don't post answers to assignment questions - or requests for answers to assignment questions - on a newsgroup.
