Allocation of Grades

To ensure that you receive a passing Grade for COMP1100, you should:

You may receive a Grade of NCN for COMP1100 if you do not hand in both assignments on time.
You cannot pass COMP1100 if you do not pass the exam component.

Grades of Credit (or above) for COMP1100 will be allocated to students who:

For example,
If the average (the arithmetic mean) of the Total Marks for the course is 58, and you obtain a Total Mark of 58 or greater, then you will receive a Grade of Credit (or above)

Grades of Distinction (or above) for COMP1100 will be allocated to students who:

For example,
If the average (the arithmetic mean) of the Total Marks for the course is 58, and the standard deviation is 11, and you obtain a Total Mark of 69 or greater, then you will receive a Grade of Distinction (or above)

Grades of High Distinction for COMP1100 will be allocated to students who:

For example,
If the average (the arithmetic mean) of the Total Marks for the course is 58, and the standard deviation is 11, and you obtain a Total Mark of 80 or greater, then you will receive a Grade of High Distinction

Allocation of Marks

The Mark which appears on your transcript of results reflects your ranking within the Grade which you have been awarded.

This Mark is not necessarily equal to your  Total Mark.

Marks may be scaled.

For example,
If the average (the arithmetic mean) of the Total Marks for the course is 58, and you obtain a Total Mark of 58, then you will receive a Grade of Credit and a Mark of (at least) 60
