Program  (15 marks)


Test 1  (5 marks)

zero marks  if your program does not compile

1 mark  if your program displays the correct Welcome message
1 mark  if your program displays the correct Sign-Off message

1 mark  if your program produces the correct sentence for test data file Test1a
1 mark  if your program produces the correct sentence for test data file Test1b
1 mark  if your program produces the correct sentence for test data file Test1c


Test 2  (bonus 5 marks)

1 mark  if your program produces valid output for test data file Test2a
1 mark  if your program produces valid output for test data file Test2b
1 mark  if your program produces valid output for test data file Test2c
1 mark  if your program produces valid output for test data file Test2d
1 mark  if your program produces valid output for test data file Test2e


Comments  (5 marks)

zero marks  if there are no comments in the source code.

Comments in the source code will be assessed using the following scale:

5  Couldn't fault them
4  Excellent
3  Good
2  Unsatisfactory
1  Very Poor

If there is no beginning comment, the maximum mark you will be awarded is 3/5.

If your comments simply translate your code into English, the maximum mark you will be awarded is 1/5.

Programming Style  (5 marks)

Your programming style will be assessed using the following scale:

5  Couldn't fault it
4  Excellent
3  Good
2  Unsatisfactory
1  Very Poor

Report  (10 marks)

Both the content of your report, and your writing style, will be assessed using the following scale:

10  Couldn't fault it
 9  Brilliant
 8  Excellent
 7  Very Good
 6  Good
 5  Satisfactory
 4  Unsatisfactory
 3  Poor
 2  Very Poor
 1  Nothing of significance submitted

You will not receive a high mark if your report does not meet the Report specification.

You will not receive a high mark if your report contains a  lot of spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.


Length Deduction

minus 1 mark  if your file contains fewer than 150 words
minus 1 mark  if your file contains fewer than 180 words

minus 1 mark  if your file contains more than 220 words
minus 1 mark  if your file contains more than 250 words

minus 5 marks if the  declaration.txt  file has not been submitted

If the  declaration.txt  file has been submitted:

minus 1 mark  if you have not replaced  <your name>  with your name

minus 1 mark  if you have not replaced  <your student number>  with your student number

File Submission Deductions

minus 2 marks (per file) if your _OLD file is marked

minus 1 mark (per file) each time the course coordinator needs to edit and re-run a submitted file

minus 2 marks if you have submitted both  reportA.txt  and  reportB.txt

minus 1 mark if you have left any pointy/angle brackets in your file

minus 1 mark if your code is re-run by hand

If you do something inappropriate/silly which I have not thought of in advance to put on this marking scheme, you may lose marks for that inappropriate/silly thing.
