Students are expected to attend five two-hour tut/lab sessions (called Practicals in streams) during the semester, one per fortnight starting in Week 3 and finishing in Week 11.
Tut/lab sessions have been scheduled (by the DCS Small Group Scheduler) in the time slots:
Wednesday 16:00-18:00 (wed16-18) N115 Sumudu Mendis Thursday 14:00-16:00 (thu14-16) N115 Carol Edmondson Friday 09:00-11:00 (fri09-11) N115 Sumudu Mendis Friday 11:00-13:00 (fri11-13) N115 Sumudu Mendis
Tut/labs will be held in CSIT Lab N115 on Level 1 of the CS&IT Building [108].
Students should register for groups using the
Modify Course Activities button under Student Entry in streams.
Students who wish to change groups must use the
Modify Course Activities button in streams.
Groups with low registrations may be cancelled.
Rolls will be marked at tut/lab sessions.
If you attend a tut/lab for a group in which you are not registered, you may be asked
for your student id and name. Writing your name and student number on the roll will
not cause your group registration to change.
If you need to talk to someone about COMP1100 tut/lab work outside
scheduled tut/lab sessions, see Carol during her Student
Consultation Times.
You may post questions about COMP1100 tut/lab work on the discussion group COMP1100.talk.

If you miss a tut/lab, you should:
Do the exercises on the relevant Worksheet.

Do some preparation before attending a tut/lab.
If you do some preparation, you will be able to make much more effective use of the time at tut/lab session.
You should at least read through all the tut/lab questions.
It is a Good Idea to make notes of anything you don't understand (so you can ask questions).
If you get *stuck* on a tut/lab question, don't spend hours on it, bring what you have done to the relevant tut/lab.
Do not use the tut/lab as a social occasion.
Be aware that other students may be at different points on the learning curve.
Be aware that some students may be genuinely interested in topics which bore you witless.
