Brick

Students may purchase a copy of the COMP1900 Reading Brick, a manual called Microsoft Office97 Introductory which has a bright blue cover and costs $15. Office97 is an earlier PC version of the software we'll be using in the Mac lab.

Note:With the Brick you will receive a (free) copy of the Department of Computer Science (DCS) Student Handbook. Most of it is not relevant to COMP1900 students, but you should read the chapter Assessment in computer science courses.

Note:The Final Examination may examine you on the content of these chapters as well as material covered in lectures, assignments and lab sessions.
Students may be able to purchase a second-hand copy of the 5th or 6th Edition. (The 6th Edition was used by COMP1900 in 2001.)
Copies of the 5th edition (QA76.C358 1998) and 6th edition (QA76.5 .C363 2000) are available from the Hancock Library (Building 43).
One copy of the 7th Edition will be placed in the Hancock Library on 2-day reserve.
