Help using the computers

If you have a problem related to the use of the Macs or software packages (eg Microsoft Word) or your @student email, try visiting the Student Consultants at the Infoplace.

A great deal of helpful information is available via the student Network Access homepage.

Your fellow students can be a very useful source of help. They may have had the same problem and be able to either tell you the solution to your problem or work with you to solve it. However, you should be careful not to use too much of other students' time - they have their own work to do. Also, treat knowledge gained from other students with appropriate care. Your fellow students, no matter how self-confident they appear, are just as likely to get the answer wrong as you would be.

Help with assignments

For most problems, you should raise the matter with your tutor in your next scheduled laboratory session. Some tutors are not full-time members of staff. They are paid only for assisting at lab sessions and marking assignments.

You may also send email to the Course Coordinator.

You may ask other students to help you with specific problems you are having with an assignment - but - don't hand in material which you have simply copied from another student even if the other student gives you permission to copy. If this form of plagiarism is detected, both the student who did the copying and the student who supplied the material may be penalised.
