Syllabus: Computer Software Development Cycle; Software Requirements Specification; Design Notations (Unified Modelling Language); Design Techniques: Object-Oriented Design, Software Architecture, Design Patterns; Design Review; Design Quality; Modern Software Design Technologies (Rational Process, Agile Development, Jazz) This is a full semester course which will comprise 25 (30, for COMP2510) lectures, two laboratory sessions and five tutorials, three assignments and a final theory examination (standard three hour written exam). The COMP2110/2510 Timetable shows lecture and tutorial times, as well as their locations. You might also find the Principal Academic Dates for 2009 useful. They include the start and end dates for each teaching period of 2009.
Each week we will meet for a 1 hour lecture (in the DEMS T) and a 2 hour lecture (in the MCC T5). Every two weeks on the odd week have labs (in the CSIT N112) During each lecture we will discuss a specific topic and then during each workshop, we will conduct a small group exercise to practice some of the ideas discussed. During each lab we will make group presentations to demonstrate the students' understanding of the lectures. Take a look at the proposed schedule to see what we are likely to cover during the course.
