Assessment schemeYour grade for COMP3110/6311 will be based on your results in the following assessable components of the course. Workshop exercises (group): 30 marksDuring the course, students will participate in seven workshop exercises (see the course schedule). Each workshop exercise is assessable and will be completed in small groups of 3-4 students. Each group will hand in their work at the end of each workshop. Tutors will assess each group's work and will assign an individual mark to each student. At the end of the semester, the best six tutorial results will be used to determine a mark out 30 for each individual student. Note that workshop attendance is mandatory. Mid-semester examination (individual): 30 marksA 2 hour mid-semester examination will be held, under normal examination conditions, during the lecture time slot in week 7. The examination will assess your understanding of the material presented in weeks 1 through 6. Final examination (individual): 40 marksA 3 hour examination will be held, under normal examination conditions, during the Semester One examination period. The aim of this examination will be to assess your overall understanding and ability to use software analysis and design techniques. Requirements to pass the courseTo pass COMP3110/6311, students must achieve a mark of at least 15/30 for the workshops and 35/70 for the sum of their two examination marks. ModerationFinal marks may be moderated by the School of Computer Science examiners' meeting. |
