A sample of the 1998 comp3036 Computer Networks exam paper may be a helpful indicator.

Assessment - assignment 1

All marks for assignment 1 should now be available to you (should appear through mymarks by Weds 24 May).
For your information, the mean (average) mark was 75% - so this was a generously marked assignment.
As an indicator of how you went: take 10% off your mark for a better indication of scaling to a mark indicating final exam range.
Chris Johnson's class can collect assignments from the lecture Wednesday 24 May, and subsequently from his office.

Assignment 3

The assignment specification is now available.

FAQs for assignment 3

  1. What do "hot" and "cold" mean?
A word of explanation: "hot" and "cold" are terms that are used in studying database and cache performance.
    cold
refers to a query made when the cache or caches are empty - on startup, for example.
    hot
refers to a situation where the cache/s has been loaded by a number of previous queries (not necessarily exactly the same queries as are being studied as the example)

ANU Policies on the Use of University Computing Services

Although the papers under "ANU Policies on the Use of University Computing Services" seem to be written in `legalese', you would be well advised to become aware of their contents, since use of ANU computing facilities is conditional on adherence to those policies.
