COMP3650/6365 - System Architectural Understanding & the Human Brain
Assessment scheme

Your grade for COMP3650/6365 will be based on your results in the following assessable components of the course.

Assignments : 30%

  • Assignment 1: 15%

    Due : March 29th at 6 p.m.

  • Assignment 2: 15%

    Due : May 24th at 10 p.m. All assignments to be submitted by groups of 2 or 3 students.

Penalty for late submission: 20% of mark for first day late; 10% for each additional day. No submissions accepted after May 27th (for second assignment)

Mid semester examination: 10%

A 1 hour examination will be held, under normal examination conditions, in the week beginning April 6th (provisional date).

The mid semester examination will be a series of questions, either multiple choice or short answer. A guide to the topics which may be the subjects of questions is here.

Final examination: 60%

A 3 hour examination will be held, under normal examination conditions, during the Semester One examination period.

Note that COMP3650 and COMP6365 exams will be different.

Requirements to pass the course

To pass COMP3650/6365, students must achieve an overall mark of at least 50%.

Supplementary exams will be awarded only to those students who meet the following criteria:

  • The student must have obtained a final mark between 45 and 49.
  • The student must have needed to score just 50% (30 out of 60) on the final exam to pass the course. Note that this will require a total score for assignments and mid semester examination of 20 out of 40.

Moderation

Final marks are moderated by the School of Computer Science examiners' meeting and may be scaled as a result of this moderation.
