Milestone Papers requires each student to present two papers, write two reports, attend all presentations and submit questions for all presented papers. Each paper is to be presented in a pair and reports are to be written individually. Further guidelines for division of work are available on the assessment page. Each report should be in the format of a journal paper and should not be more than 5 pages long. Each student presenter should submit a copy of the overheads and a copy of the report to the lecturer on the day of the presentation. The report and slides should also be submitted electronically before the day of the presentation. All electronic submissions should be made through email to wliang@cs.anu.edu.au . Please label your submissions clearly. Each presentation should run for around 40 minutes. With each person involved talking for about 20-22 mins. If it is a joint presentation, then make sure that each person gives about half of the presentation. You will need to submit the overheads electronically. If it is a joint presentation, then you should also indicate which parts were presented by whom. You can indicate this by adding one or two slides in the electronic submission that indicates who presented which slides. You should also make available to me a hard copy of the above as well. All of this should be done the day before the paper is presented. Each presenter should submit their own report on each paper that they present. The report should be written using the article style in latex, with the font size being 10pt. The report should not be more than 5 pages in length and should be written in the same format as a journal paper. Those of you that did joint work will each submit an individual report that covers all of the paper, including both before and after aspects. Those that did individual work will submit a report that emphasizes the particular aspect of the paper that you dealt with (for example, previous work). Since the report size is the same, it is expected that individual work will go into a lot more detail than joint work, which will cover a lot more area. Each report must be submitted electronically, both the latex file and a PDF file. This should also be submitted the day before the presentation of the paper. Questions Each of you should submit 3 discussion questions for the six other papers in the list, besides the ones that you are presenting. This means that each of you is involved with 8 papers in total. The questions should include a short paragraph of 100 words max that describes the motivation behind the questions. This is not meant to be group work and should be individual work. The questions for each paper should be submitted electronically the day before the paper is presented. Attendance This is a participatory course and hence attendance at all student presentations is compulsory. 5% of the total mark has been allocated for lecture attendence. |
