We will consider several aspects of parallel systems, including (but not limited to!) (i) hardware architecture (ii) programming paradigms (iii) parallel algorithms (iv) sample applications of.

• Saturday 14 April: Assignment submission. I was hoping to do this via streams, but that is broken at the moment. So please send me your assignment via email. Send it as a SINGLE tar file called uXXXXXX-ass1.tar. Where uXXXXXX is your UID. Within the tar file include a README file giving details of what you have submitted.
• Friday 13 April: Since I will be away next week and not even on email, I've moved the deadline for assigment 1 to 23:57 on Wednesday 25th April. But don't take this as a reason to delay doing the assignment!
• Sunday 1 April: As requested in the lecture on Friday, I will only test your assignment code on 2^N processors, i.e. 1,2,4,8,16,32 etc.
• Friday 23rd March: Lecture will take place in the Leonard Huxley Theatre at 3.15pm. (The lecture theatre is on level 2. Entrance to Leonard Huxley building is shown on the previous link. It will take you about 15mins to walk there from DCS.) We will tour the APAC National Facility machine room first, and then have lecture. Everything must finish by 5pm - for security reasons!
