Welcome to the course
COMP4320/COMP6468 - Network Security.
This course teaches you the theory and mechanisms of information
security in a networked environment. Fundamental concepts such as
confidentiality, authentication and integrity are introduced.
Security threats are analysed from different angle. No programming
is necessary, but you may like to practice some useful encryption
algorithms on your own.
Your feedback is valuable to improve the course. If you have
comments or suggestions, please contact the course co-ordinator.
During your study, you may find something very new. This is
not surprising, as network security covers a number of topics
that under repaid development.
There will be two assignments, one is a collection of general
questions, testing your overall understanding of the material.
The other one will be a specific topic that you need to
dig up for detail. It is a kind of research report. Oral presentation
is not planned for the time being.
