The final mark is composed of three components: the class mark (C), the quizzes mark (Q) and the final exam mark (E). The class mark is worth 30%, the quizzes 10% and the final exam mark 50%, of the total assessment. The class mark, the quizzes mark and the final exam mark will each be calculated as a mark out of 100. Note that consistent scaling across all students may occur with these marks. The final mark will be given as a mark out of 100 and will be calculated using the following formula:
The minimum final mark required for a pass grade is 50. The class mark consists of the following components:
There will be two quizzes. They will be held during the normal lecture hours, during the thursday lecture. The duration of each quiz will be 20 minutes. The schedule for the quizzes is given below:
Supplementary exams will be awarded only to those students who meet the following criteria: He/she has obtained a final mark between 45 and 49, and by getting a bare pass (50) in the supplementary exam, will pass the course. (This will require a class mark of 50 or over.) Final marks are moderated by the School of Computer Science examiners meeting. |
