COMP8120 - System/Software Development Methodologies

Welcome to COMP8120 for 2008

COMP8120 is a mandatory part of the Master of Software Engineering Program. The course is intended to help students develop their ability to understand, apply, and even create effective software development methodologies.

This will be achieved by exploring a wide range of past, contemporary and emerging software/systems analysis and design techniques. We will consider relationships between such techniques and how they have, and can be, assembled to form effective software development methodologies.

Timetable

The COMP8120 Timetable shows lecture times and location.

You might also find the Principal Academic Dates for 2008 useful. They include the start and end dates for each teaching period in semester two.

Course Organisation

Each week we will meet for a single 3 hour session. During each session we will deal with a specific topic using various combinations of:

  • Lectures
  • Worked Examples
  • Informal two-way Q&A
  • In-Class Exercises

A typical session will comprise a 60 minute lecture followed by a short break. The remaining time will often be used to complete an assessable in-class exercise.

Take a look at the proposed schedule to see what we are likley to cover during the course.
