COMP8130/COMP4130 - Quality Management

Proposed Assessment Scheme

COMP8130:

The tentative assessment of COMP8130 will be based on a combination of paired work in two assignments and an examination.

Assignment and presentation work will contribute 45% to an individual participant's final result, and the examination will also contribute 55%. The second assignment will have a presentation component.

To pass COMP8130, an individual participant must gain a mark of at least 50% for each component of the course.

COMP4130:

The assessment scheme of Part 2 of COMP4130 (this part which is cotaught with 8130) will be based on a combination of individual work in one assignment, which will be related to the BSEng group project, and an examination. The final contribution of this component of COMP4130 to an individual's overall result for COMP4130 is yet to be decided. However, without further information it should be assumed that the contribution will be 50%, made up from 20% on the assignment and 30% on the exam.

Please note that assignments for COMP4130 students will require less effort than for COMP8130 students. Additonally, the last lecture/workshop session for the course will be given over to masters student presentations which COMP4130 students must help assess - more on this later.

Note that marks may be scaled.
