Exam Related Information

Location and date

The final exam date and time will be made available here when known.

You will have an environment that is very similar to the one that you had for the lab tests, except that you won't have access to the lecture slides. There will be a directory for each main question, and files in each such directory that you will need to use to answer particular sub-questions. As in the labtests, you will need to create appropriate script files for the programming related tasks. Make sure that you save your files regularly.

Examinable Material

The examinable material comprises the contents of the lectures and labs, as well as the relevant chapters in the text book. The course revision information contains the details. The material on Frequency and Time Domain operations, on research in Software Engineering and the guest lecture by Salman are not examinable.

There will be a mix of theoretical and lab based questions, on a rough 60-40 split. There will be around 6 or 7 main questions in the exam. Last year's exam paper is provided as a sample. Look at the sample paper, the revision material and the labs for a guide on questions of a practical nature.

You will login using your anu user id and password into a secure environment. The question paper will be made available in the form of an HTML or pdf file. For each main question, there will be a directory with an appropriate name (Q1 for question 1). In each directory, there will be empty files for you to enter your answers (eg, answers.txt, q2a.txt). You will need to enter the answers using an editor. You will need to create script files, where required. Please remember to save the answers in the file. Do not change the names of the directories or of the files.

Sample exam paper

A sample exam paper is available for reference, as well as a zip file containing the exam paper and the relevant directories and files.
