Description

Autoson is a batch-queue system for distributing jobs across a network of heterogeneous Unix-like computers. Unfortunately the current version is very out of date: installation is difficult and and various features do not work or work incompletely. Autoson consists of about 10,000 lines of C.

The project aims to re-engineer Autoson to conform with Posix and use the autoconf configuration system. A second aim is to redesign various algorithms used in the program to be more reliable and flexible.

The project will involve a significant amount of Unix programming at the system-call level.
