Abstract: (abridged) In this paper, we discuss the portable and mobile communications in the Internet context first and then give the details of our portable IP systems. The basic idea of portable IP is that each portable host will be dynamically assigned an local IP address and DNS name at foreign network, whereas keep home IP address and DNS name constant.
